Czech Grand Design 2012 - Markéta Richterová
The best collection of jewelry
Markéta Richterová, an endless experimenter with materials and new technologies, has now been at the top of the Czech jewelry making for close to four years. At first Markéta studied the art of glass-making in Železný Brod, from where she later joined studio of Jewelry at AAAD in Prague, still led by a great Czech sculptor and jewelry artist Vratislav K. Novák in those days. Richterová's design has always been inspired primarily by organic and inorganic structures, which she skillfully transforms, thanks to material experimentations, into a convincing hi-tech result. Among her favourite kinds of material are for example perpex, corian or lately mostly carbon, which she has already turned into a number of exquisite pieces of art jewelry. Carbon bracelets of organic irregular shapes are a perfect accessory for the human body. Their lightness and smoothness ensure a great fit for every hand. Even though most of Markéta Richterová's jewelry give a rather futuristic and industrial impression, each piece is a genuine original, to which the author dedicated a long time of precise hand work. For her carbon collection Richterová won the Award of Chief Editors at Designblok 2009.
