Barcelona

Trashforming is back with their next event, Trashboarding to explore cardboard! As part of Barcelona Design Festival 2013, Peppermint Products* presents their proposal for a temporary city habitat.

This young start up was founded on the 1st of April 2012 by two young and ambitious innovators. Roman Luyken and Nina Nikolaus put their heads together to start off a company, after being friends and neighbours for many years. Peppermint Products* originates from Berg, next to the beautiful Starnberg lake in Germany, close to Munich city.

The team has grown to 6 people since the start of this project, spreading across various disciplines specialities and cultures. The glue that put them all together was a passion for putting raw materials in a new context whilst maintaining sustainability. So far, the company has been self sustained on funding coming from the founders only in order for it to keep its independence in what it does.

The company's products follow a simple rule: 'from small we unfold big'. In essence, these fully functional furniture pieces are transported in their most basic and flatpack form. Upon arrival, they unfold to reveal their full scale and function. Just like that, PP* make design and space aware furniture available to everyone.

Until today, there are 15 products out of cardboard and rope designed by the start-up. One of them, the flagship chair 'Dr Chairman', has been on display at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, the modern art and design museum.
